my virtual machine has no disk found ? how to do? new to vmware - trying to load XP to virtual machine

I see in the console for new VM that I have the ISO booting XP but on enter it says machine has no disks attached.  I have done a thin provision with 8 gb to start.  Any suggesions or pointers to documentation would be appreciated.
